In the spirit of the holiday season, Cranford Brownie Troop 40400, part of the Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey Council, hosted its 4th Annual Holiday Movie Night at the Cranford Theater on December 4, 2024.
The event welcomed over 300 Girl Scouts and their families across three theaters and collected 134 pajamas and 80 books for The Pajama Program, an initiative that provides children in need with a new pair of pajamas and a book to ensure a cozy bedtime.

The Westfield High School Marching Band wrapped up its 2024 fall season with impressive performances. The Marching Blue Devils placed 1st in their division at the Scotch Plains and Piscataway competitions, while being named Grand Champion for the highest score among all competing bands. In East Brunswick, they placed 2nd in their division and 2nd overall. The band finished the season, performing in the New Jersey Marching Band Directors Association State Championships where they placed 3rd in Class AAAA, and received the 4th highest score of the over 30 high school bands in attendance.
The Cranford Community gathered Monday, June 10, as the Pride Flag was raised on the flagpole at the Municipal Building to celebrate Pride Month and support the LGBTQ+ community.
This year’s event had the largest turnout the township had seen, in a year when the community came together to support a Downtown Cranford store after it was threatened in an anonymous letter for displaying a Pride Flag in its storefront window. “We are defined by how we as a community responded,” Mayor Andrew said at the Pride flag-raising ceremony.

Hosted by Summit Downtown (SDI), FNN was back and better than ever, with a carnival-themed kid zone transforming Beechwood Road and Bank Street.
Local neighbors and residents from nearby communities shared a fun-filled evening that featured an exciting lineup of activities and entertainment. As part of the attraction, all activities were free and included promotions and interactions from many of downtown Summit’s family-friendly businesses.

For the 57th consecutive year, the Santa Claus Shop will open its doors to area families to provide complementary holiday shopping. The Shop serves more than 400 low-income families and senior citizens from Summit, New Providence, Berkeley Heights and other local communities.
This year’s Santa Claus Shop will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 587 Springfield Avenue in Summit. Families will be offered shopping hours by invitation only during the first week of December.
