Summit Girls Soccer Celebrates 12 Seniors With Shutout Win Over Brearley

On a day honoring 12 seniors, two of them gave Summit girls soccer another reason to celebrate.
Sophia Mora and Cammy Horev each scored in Monday’s game, lifting the Hilltoppers to a 2-0 win over David Brearley at Summit High School.
“It was an awesome night celebrating our 12 seniors who have dedicated so much time and heart to this program,” coach Kelly Klaif said. “They will truly be missed!”
The victory improved Summit to 7-4-1 overall and 2-2-1 in the Union County Conference’s Watchung Division. It was the Hilltoppers’ second consecutive win and fifth in their last six games.
Mora and Horev supplied the offense, while the Hilltopper defense and goalkeepers Lucy Zacharias and Ava Hogan combined for the shutout. Brearley goalkeeper Shannon Simon finished with four saves as her team fell to 3-7-1.
For Klaif, having two seniors score made the celebration especially meaningful.
“Two of our seniors, Sophia Mora and Cammy Horev, both found the back of the net tonight to help lead us to a win over Brearley,” she said. “A great way to celebrate an incredible group of seniors!”
Summit is scheduled to visit Newark Academy on Wednesday, Oct. 14, at 4 p.m.
