As the season begins, Summit Girls Soccer will enter the 2026 fall season with something it didn’t have a year ago: experience.
By Lily Silver
The Hilltoppers finished last season 6-12-1, but the team views the difficult year as an important step in its development. The lessons went beyond the scoreboard, teaching the players the importance of consistency, resilience, and staying together through challenges.

So, rather than searching for one game that will define their season, Summit is preparing for all of them. “We are in the Watchung Division in Union County and every game is tough and a grind,” the coaching staff said.

When residents gathered at Soldiers Memorial Field recently for National Night Out and the rescheduled Fourth of July fireworks display, they returned to a place that has been at the center of Summit’s community life for more than a century.
For Summit High School rising junior Cameron Aronson, the field is more than a recreation area. Aronson has spent countless hours there with family and friends, playing baseball and celebrating special events.
Aronson recently shared the history of Soldiers Memorial Field with the Summit Common Council during its “Historical Minute,” explaining how the...
A fresh shine on a 97‑year icon.
The Summit Diner has completed a full exterior restoration, returning the 1939 O’Mahony structure to its original appearance after months of work funded through a national historic‑preservation grant.
Michele Greberis, who owns the diner with her husband Jim, said seeing the stainless‑steel façade restored to its historic condition marks a major milestone for the family‑run business.
“It’s wonderful to see the diner shine once again,” said a happy Michele.
The first diner on the site opened in 1929 as a lunch wagon serving railroad workers and downtown employees....
