I am an Inspiring Designer on my way to London

Ever since I could remember I always had an interest in fashion. I never let my mom pick out my outfits and was very opinionated and certain about the clothes I would wear. I would put on sparkly scarves in the summer and my favorite dress during the winter time. I would repurpose my clothes and wear them in an unconventional way; many times I would use my dresses with jeans, my scarves as belts and tie my necklaces onto my shoes. Although many times it didn’t make a lot of sense, it helped me begin my journey as a fashion designer.

I discovered that I could take classes about fashion and learn more about the technical sides of design. I learned how to sew, pattern make and construct garments that allowed me to express myself in endless ways. I remember my first time fabric shopping with my parents and I was so excited that I refused to leave. I was determined to learn more about fashion and strengthen my skills in the field. I then learned about the importance of research and collaging different ideas together to create original designs that had in-depth development behind them. This allowed my work that I produced to be more personal and unique to me and my design aesthetic as an inspiring artist in the field of fashion.

As I learned more techniques I was introduced to Central Saint Martins in London, a college specialized in the creative design process, paving the way in expressive designs while aligning perfectly with my fashion design aspirations. This school also values sustainability and using more responsible materials, and being mindful of reducing waste and extending the life of clothes, highlighting sustainability that I want to have in my creations as a fashion designer. I was so excited to be accepted into this amazing university for the fall.

My vision for fashion in the future is to bring more accessible materials to the forefront of design, and challenge the norms of traditional garment production. I want to help people feel more confident in themselves by wearing my clothing and being able to express themselves in a more genuine way. Ensuring that every garment I produce and share with others will carry on the intense love for fashion that I’ve always had is what is most important to me.
