‘Better than Nashville,’ Says Local Foodie
Fried chicken was on the menu this month as local residents enjoyed crispy treats at newly-opened Tonydoms Fried Chicken restaurant in Summit.
Owner and local Summit dad, Marc Trujillo, smiled as a host of customers burst through the door on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon.
“We officially finished our first week,” Trujillo said. “The opening has gone extremely well. The support from the local community has been awesome!”
As an Executive Chef with 25 years of culinary experience in New York City, Trujillo said his “wife Sharon and I moved to Summit 16 years ago. Our sons, Anthony and Dominick, go to high school and middle school, respectively. When Dominick was born, the name “Tonydoms” came into existence. I knew I would open a restaurant in Summit and give it that name.”
Among several customers in the restaurant on Sunday afternoon included a husband-and-wife couple from Westfield, who specifically traveled to experience the new menu and tried the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich.
“We just got back from Nashville and must say this chicken was much better,” the satisfied customer said.
“How did you hear about us,” Trujillo asked the Westerfielder. “We saw the story in Tapinto.” Tapinto.net, the news online site that supports many local areas in New Jersey, recently featured the business in an article last week. Click here for the story.
Tonydoms offers tenders, sandwiches, biscuit sandwiches, wraps, bone-in chicken, fresh hand cut French fries, mac-n’ cheese, and hand-rolled biscuits. We bake brownies and chocolate chip cookies daily. Sweet tea is brewed on the premises and fresh-squeezed lemons are used for our lemonade.
