Tell us about the Cranford Dramatic Club!

We are New Jersey’s longest continuously producing community theatre, founded in 1919. We are a volunteer run theatre and a registered 501(c)3 non-for-profit. Our mission is to present quality and affordable live theatre to New Jersey residents, to develop the talents of members in both the performance and technical aspects of theatre and to stimulate community interest in the theatre arts.

Our season typically offers three musicals and a play, along with special events and limited runs. We have a thriving Young Artist Program that includes theatre classes, a full production for students in grades 8-12 and a two week summer camp for elementary and middle school students.

Are there any upcoming performances that residents should keep an eye out for?

Rehearsals for the musical HAIR are underway and the show will run May 3rd-19th. Our YAP show in June will be the hilarious musical  Sponge Bob Square Pants.

How can the community get involved with CDC?

Anyone with an interest in theatre is welcome! Whether it’s being in a show or being behind the scenes, there are so many ways to join the fun! If you’d like to perform, auditions happen throughout the year and are posted on our website as well as in the press and social media. If you have an interest in lighting, sound, costuming, set decoration or being a part of a group that brings the excitement of live theatre to the community, CDC Theatre has a spot just for you. You do not need to be a member, but membership offers a free ticket to each mainstage show and the opportunity to be a part of a vibrant performing arts institution here in Cranford.
