1) Spend time in a part/forest for a couple of hours which helps to quiet the mind so that you are able to ask yourself one question – am I living my life according to my values?

2) Spend time recharging your energy – for some it might be physical activities, e.g., running, biking, being intimate with their partner, while others need a slower pace activity, e.g., meditation or a spa. Yet for others, it means to invigorate their sense of aliveness by participating in activities that bring their emotions to the forefront, e.g., going to the oprah, watching sentimental movies, or daydreaming about their happiest moments in their life. Whatever your choice, take the time to do it – you’ll be better for it!

3) Make the call – I know it is not easy to make a call to a friend that you haven’t seen/spoken to in a while. We as clinicians know that social connection serves as a bedrock of sense of belonging and safety. So go ahead and make that call!

4) For those with kids, try to get to know one thing that your child(ren) are passionate/excited about, be it a new Tik Tok video, a brand new fashion trend, or a new series on Netflix. This will help you feel connected to your child(ren) on a different level than just “parenting.”

5) For those in a relationship, create a new, together experience where both of you are novices. The experience of learning and doing something together often brings people closer to each other.
