How long have you lived here and what brought you to town?

I have lived in Cranford for 24 years. We chose Cranford because of the school system.

What are your favorite family activities?

Movie nights, baking, having dinner together, and beach vacations.

What’s your favorite restaurant and/or place to shop?

We love to try new restaurants all the time and right now our favorite is Nola’s in Garwood. I like to shop at Augusta Mae in Cranford because Clara and Kim always have the best gift suggestions.

What was the best advice on motherhood that you ever received?

The best advice I received was to trust my instincts.

Tell us about your job or passion.

In 2016, I wanted to learn to sew & took a class at the Cranford Community Center. It soon became my passion and today I am lucky enough to work as a sewing instructor at Urban Sewciety owned by Meg Bulthaupt and Megan Whitney. I also manage the kid’s program. We have almost 300 kids attend classes every week! Right now we are getting ready for our summer camp. People often think sewing is a dying art because it was removed from so many school curriculums, but I invite you to Urban Sewciety to see our students in action! I absolutely love inspiring young sewists & watching their confidence grow as they move through our curriculum.

What inspired you to follow this career?

My mom & grandmother both sewed & my whole family is very crafty. As my kids got older, I could spend more time learning & improving. There is always something new to learn in sewing and I absolutely love sharing what I’ve learned with others. I am very lucky to work with so many creative people who inspire me every day!

Anything we missed?

My youngest two kids are headed off to college this fall. I am very fortunate to have been a part of the Cranford School system for the past 20 years.
