Where/why did you get your pet?

We got Fisher at the Newark Humane Society in January of 2017. We had originally planned to get a dog but could not take one home after seeing Fisher.

Anything special or unusual about your pet?

When we first got Fisher, we wanted to call him a different name, August. However, he refused to respond to that and we ended up calling him Fisher or “Fish” anyway. Fisher is also not friendly with dogs at all, but surprisingly gets along well with rabbits! We also entered Fisher into a pets contest back in 2018 and he won second place for best cat reader.

Any funny stories?

Fisher is an indoor/outdoor cat and enjoys showing us his hunting skills by bringing us “presents” that often consist of smaller rodents. One time, however, he brought back a cardinal to our doorstep which was sort of alarming. That day my mom really wasn’t a fan of Fisher until my brother and I explained how he was just trying to give us a gift.

What do you like best about your pet?

Although Fisher does not like to always be interacting with people, he shows his love by always keeping a close distance to us. Just having Fisher around and seeing him out of the corner of my eye is one of my favorite things about him, as he doesnt need lots of attention but is still always involved with the family.

How has the pet enriched your life?

Fisher is a great listener and can always comfort us when we are feeling down. It’s very comforting to know that he is always nearby and there for when we need him. Although he isn’t normally a very cuddly cat, he ends up being veryloving when one of us is upset or just not in a great mood.
