The Scouts had spent nearly two years preparing for the trip.<br \/>\nRather than cancel their summer adventure, the Scouts quickly shifted plans and set out on a wilderness canoe route from Long Lake to Tupper Lake in upstate New York. Carrying their food, camping gear, and personal equipment, they paddled through remote stretches of the Adirondacks and camped along the route.<br \/>\nThe trip also included an approximately 10-mile hike through the Cold River Valley and numerous wildlife sightings, including a nesting pair of bald eagles.<br \/>\nThroughout the expedition, the Scouts put their training into practice by navigating, setting up camp, preparing meals, managing equipment, and working together to complete each day\u2019s route.<br \/>\nWhat began as a last-minute change of plans became a memorable high-adventure experience and a fitting example of the Scout motto:<br \/>\nBe Prepared.<\/p>\n<p>Troop 67 welcomes boys interested in Scouting, outdoor adventure, leadership, and service. The troop meets Mondays from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. in the Avila Room at St. Teresa\u2019s School, 306 Morris Avenue in Summit. Families interested in learning more are invited to attend a meeting and meet the Scouts.
