Morristown Medical Center has once again been recognized as one of New Jersey’s top hospitals, earning the No. 2 ranking in the state in the latest U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals 2026-2027 rankings.
\nThe annual rankings also placed Atlantic Health Overlook Medical Center in Summit at No. 3 statewide, making Atlantic Health the only healthcare system in New Jersey with two hospitals ranked among the state’s top three.
\nMorristown Medical Center received national recognition in three adult specialties, ranking 13th in the nation for Orthopedics, 25th for Urology, and 41st for Cardiology, Heart & Vascular Surgery. The hospital was also recognized as high-performing in Geriatrics and Gastroenterology & GI Surgery.
\nAmong its most notable achievements, Morristown Medical Center’s Orthopedics program remains the highest-ranked in New Jersey and is ranked No. 4 in the New York metropolitan area. Its Cardiology, Heart & Vascular Surgery program also earned the distinction of being the highest-ranked in New Jersey and eighth in the New York metro region.
\nBeyond specialty rankings, Morristown Medical Center was recognized as high-performing in 22 common adult procedures and conditions, including heart attack care, heart bypass surgery, heart failure, stroke, diabetes, hip and knee replacement, lung and prostate cancer surgery, leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma treatment, kidney failure, pneumonia, spinal fusion, and transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), among others.

\nAtlantic Health’s Overlook Medical Center in Summit maintained its No. 3 ranking in New Jersey and tied for 16th in the New York metropolitan area.
\nThe hospital was recognized as high-performing in Neurology & Neurosurgery and earned high-performing ratings in 15 common adult procedures and conditions, including stroke, heart attack, heart failure, diabetes, hip and knee replacement, pneumonia, leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma treatment, and prostate cancer surgery.
\nElsewhere in the Atlantic Health system, CentraState Medical Center in Freehold was recognized as high-performing in Leukemia, Lymphoma & Myeloma, Pneumonia, and Stroke, while Newton Medical Center earned a high-performing designation for Stroke care.
\nAccording to U.S. News & World Report, nearly 4,500 hospitals nationwide were evaluated across 14 adult specialties and 23 procedures and conditions, with only 16 percent earning a Best Hospitals designation.
